Fire Department

The purpose of the Minden Fire Department is to prevent and/or minimize the loss of life and/or property. The department is able to achieve this by exhibiting effective and efficient emergency fire and rescue response, while emphasizing methods of fire prevention and education to reduce the number of fires and loss of lives and property. A joint effort between the Minden Fire Department and the citizens of Minden attribute to this. 

The Minden Fire Department is a combination fire department established in 1908 and comprised of 15 full-time firefighters and more than 20 volunteers. The department has a Class 2 rating, responding from two fire stations with 3 fire engines, 1 ladder truck, 1 rescue truck, 1 staff pickup, 1 dive team trailer, and 1 boat. The department covers 12 square miles with a population of 13,000 and responds mutual aid for (7) volunteer fire departments covering 365 square miles when needed. The department is led by Fire Chief Brian Williams.
