Public Works

The Public Works Departments provide electrical service for 5,500 customers, maintains more than 100 miles of public streets, services city-owned water wells, water mains, sewer lift stations and sewer mains for more than 13,000 residents.

ELECTRIC TRANSMISSION/DISTRIBUTION

The City’s Electrical Transmission/Distribution Department maintains the City’s electrical infrastructure and assists citizens with voltage problems, project development and security lighting. Report electrical outages and any other emergency electric issue to the 24-Hour Emergency Dispatch at (318) 377-2144.


WATER PRODUCTION AND WATER DISTRIBUTION

The City of Minden owns, maintains and operates its own Water Treatment facilities and is not dependent on any other system. The Water Distribution Department is responsible for maintaining the City’s water infrastructure. Citizens can report water main breaks or any other water emergency to the 24-Hour Emergency Dispatch at (318) 377-2144.


WASTEWATER COLLECTION AND TREATMENT

The City of Minden owns, maintains and operates its own Wastewater Treatment facilities. The Sewer Collection Department is responsible for maintaining the City’s sewer infrastructure. Citizens can report sewer main breaks, sewer backup or any other sewer emergency to the 24-Hour Emergency Dispatch at (318) 377-2144.


STREETS & DRAINAGE

Minden Streets and Drainage Department should be notified to report potholes, damaged streets and curbs, street sweeping needs, stormwater drainage problems, flooding issues, and street sign problems/requests. Citizens can report an emergency street issue to the 24-Hour Emergency Dispatch at (318) 377-2144.


SIDEWALK REPLACEMENT PROGRAM

Property owners are responsible for maintenance of sidewalks. The City has a Sidewalk Replacement Program that aids citizens by sharing the cost to replace broken sidewalks. Call the Public Works Department at 318-377-2144, ext. 333 for more information.
